Kenilworth Media, Inc. of Richmond Hill, Ont., has acquired the magazines ConventionSouth and SportsEvents from Covey Communications Corp., in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

ConventionSouth keeps planners throughout the U.S up-to-date with destination profiles, news, trade show venue information, meetings, and planner profiles. SportsEvents is a magazine for planners of all types of sports events held throughout the U.S. The deal also includes Rendezvous South, a limited attendance, boutique-style event that brings together planners and destination/venue teams, in addition to S.P.O.R.T.S. The Relationship Conference. This event is also an exclusive and space-limited show designed to bring together sports event owners and rights holders with host organizations and sports-industry suppliers.

“We are pleased to add the magazine to our publication portfolio,” said Kenilworth CEO/Group Publisher Erik Tolles. “I am also excited the staff will be joining the Kenilworth family. Readers and advertisers can expect the same level of quality and service and we look forward to growing and strengthening the magazines’ presence both online and in print.”

“I look at this as sort of a union of media families,” added J. Talty O’Connor, President of Covey Communications Corp. “In even considering such a deal, it was vital to me that the other “family” share our core values, has a passion for our industry, has a long-term commitment to our employees and will maintain or even expand on our dedication to exceeding our reader’s and advertiser’s expectations. Kenilworth exceeds the criteria in every way. Their technical resources will help us to greatly expand the digital opportunities.”
