The grand opening for the brand from Los Angeles, Cali., included Mississauga mayor Bonnie Crombie, past mayor Hazel McCallion and brothers Matthew and Gene Maida of Northern Cultures, owner of the rights to Pinkberry Toronto. There was also a free concert by Canadian recording artist Karl Wolf.
“To bring this brand to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), we partnered with Pinkberry knowing we would need to be strategic about how we entered the market,” says Matthew Maida. “Pinkberry has been a highly desired brand in Ontario and fans have had to wait a long time, so we thought, why not bring it to one of Canada’s greatest cities? Mississauga has been growing for the past decade at a tremendous pace and Square One has been reinventing itself under the leadership of Oxford Properties. With all the exciting things happening in the city and at the mall, we decided the timing was perfect to bring Pinkberry west of Toronto.”
Pinkberry Toronto will serve six frozen yogurt flavours including pomegranate, chocolate hazelnut, dairy-free tropical mango, salted caramel and the brand’s ‘Original’ flavour. The topping bar allows customers to individualize their yogurt with fresh fruit, granola, baked goods, cookies toasted nuts, pomegranate juice or milk chocolate crunch.
